Gills was pleased to be out in the local community this July, exhibiting at two Black Country events: Bilston Carnival on Saturday 4 July 2026 and Wednesbury Carnival on Saturday 11 July 2026.
Both events gave the team a chance to meet local people, speak with families and support two busy community days. For Gills, these events are a valuable opportunity to be visible in the areas the business serves and to connect with customers beyond the usual retail, wholesale and food service settings.
A Welcome Return for Bilston Carnival
Bilston Carnival returned to the town this month, bringing a colourful day of entertainment, activities and local pride. The event included a 1960s-themed parade through Bilston, followed by the main carnival at Hickman Park.
The day featured live entertainment, children’s activities, food and drink, stalls and family-friendly attractions. It was also a particularly special occasion for the town, as the carnival had not been held since 2008. Its return brought together residents, community groups, volunteers, local organisations and businesses for a day focused on celebration and connection.
For Gills, being part of Bilston Carnival was a great way to support a local event with real meaning for the town. Carnivals have always played an important role in bringing communities together, and the return of Bilston Carnival was a reminder of how much these shared local occasions are valued.
Wednesbury Carnival the Following Weekend
The following Saturday, Gills also attended Wednesbury Carnival, continuing a busy month of community events. Taking place in the Wednesbury area, the carnival provided another opportunity for the team to meet local visitors, speak with families and be part of a popular Black Country day out.
Although each carnival has its own character, both events shared the same strong sense of local pride. They brought together people of all ages and gave businesses, traders, organisers and volunteers the chance to be part of something positive in the community.
For Gills, attending Wednesbury Carnival was not just about exhibiting. It was about being present, meeting people face to face and supporting the local events that help bring towns and communities together.
Supporting Local Communities
As a Midlands food manufacturer, Gills is proud to support local events and maintain strong links with the communities around the business. The company supplies sausages, pork pies and savoury products to retailers, wholesalers, caterers and food service customers, but community events offer a different kind of connection.
They allow people to meet the team, learn more about the business and see Gills as part of the local area. That matters because food is closely linked to family occasions, local events and everyday community life.
